RACE
IDBE OPEN MIC NIGHT
IDBE hosted our very own student-led crucial conversation about race, identity, and diversity. We opened the floor for students to share their own unique experiences through poetry, music and art. The goal was to create a safe, inclusive platform for performers to showcase their pieces.

Each performance, touching and vulnerable, inspired a discussion of topics from fetishization and microaggression to internalized racism and cultural appropriation. This session also brought forth an open exploration of racial privilege and the problems with how identity is traditionally defined.
